Comparing Declan to Duncan Edwards??

Fuck me.... good ol Who...

Can you expand?

One has had myth built up around him after dying at aged 21 after 150 games for Man Utd and 18 for England.

The other is 22, played 150 games for West Ham, 27 for England and 3 for Ireland. He has also starred in a Euro Cup final narrowly losing on pens.

Im putting my money on Declan having a more successful career than Edwards.

West Ham 'are determined to build their future around Declan Rice and would REJECT a £100m bid' from Chelsea, Man City or Man United... and believe they can be a 'real force' with the England star

Good to hear he can have a nice break from footie now at least, I am sure England can cope without him for the two games

Out of the England squad due to illness.

2 weeks to get better and not get injured playing for England.

Haha oh Vexey

I'll do my own maths thanks.... as the last time I looked the Euros were this year and unless your lead up to them covered last season and the one before, then no we do not agree....

No one is disputing he will in all likelihood leave but what we do disagree with is that he has been much more than "decent" for over 2 seasons I refer to last season and the one before just to be crystal clear for the hard of thinking.

Whats even funnier is that you are so easy to wind up!!!

Declan Rice

ANYONE AT HIS DEBUT?? BURNLEY AWAY?? I WAS THERE.. I'M GREAT...

To be honest made a few boo boo's in his early days... but now he's as near to the finished article as you could wish... it may look a simple position that defensive midfielder position (what I played the majority of my career)... need discipline... anticipation...and reading of the game...normally comes in your later years... he's 5 years ahead of where he should be... an absolute jewel... just embrace it while he is here

Firstly 'Sorry guys' is a super cunty way to open any post.

Secondly if you actually have take the time to read the post you've pretty much agreed with me.

It's this level of sobbing that shows that a lot of people on this site can't be objective when it comes to Rice. Calm yourselves. He's just another good player that will leave us. A player that owes this club a lot. Ain't the first, won't be the last.

Anyone who thinks that Rice has been anything other than exceptional since he broke into the first team is, in my opinion, a moron.

There’s a reason why he was always touted to reach the very top. That could be seen on the pitch from day one and he’s improving with each and every game too. Plus he has outstanding leadership skills and an infectious personality off the pitch.

It’s taken a while for neutrals to realise his true worth, but most West Ham fans have known for a while.

Sorry guys are we agreeing to simply ignore Vexed pathetic ramblings as he tries to justify himself as the only person West Ham or other that thinks rice is not all that!

You are having an absolute laugh.... "he was decent in the run up to the Euros" yes cos every decent player gets a run in the England Team... He has been class for a good 2 seasons - you meanwhile have been an idiot and unsurprisingly still are!

Can we get him to sign a new deal?

Adamant that this summer we will see 100 million plus bids for him.

Only way we can keep the vultures away is by getting him to sign a new long term deal and be the best paid player at the club.

Throw all of yarmalenkos wages at him.

Re: Is ‘world-class’ Declan Rice the best defensive midfielder on the planet?
Troy, interesting of the similarities between Duncan Edwards and Declan Rice. This is what Wiki says about Edwards:

Although he is primarily remembered as a defensive midfielder, Edwards is said to have been able to operate in any outfield position.[9] His versatility was such that on one occasion he started the match playing as an emergency striker in place of one injured player before being switched to central defence in place of another.[79] His greatest assets were his physical strength and his level of authority on the pitch, which was said to be remarkable for such a young player,[21] and he was particularly noted for his high level of stamina.[59] Stanley Matthews described him as being "like a rock in a raging sea",[80] and Bobby Moore likened him to the Rock of Gibraltar when defending but also noted that he was "dynamic coming forward".[49] His imposing physique earned him the nicknames "Big Dunc" and "The Tank",[62] and he has been ranked amongst the toughest players of all time.[81]

Edwards was noted for the power and timing of his tackles and for his ability to pass and shoot equally well with both feet.[62] He was known for his surging runs up the pitch and was equally skilled at heading the ball and at striking fierce long-range shots.[49][82] After scoring a goal on 26 May 1956, in a 3–1 friendly win against West Germany, he was given the nickname "Boom Boom" by the local press because of "the Big Bertha shot in his boots".

You could almost substitute Declan for Duncan in that write up

Yes

There is no one better in the world at the moment as a CDM or a box to box midfielder.

Crazy to say but genuinely true, thats why he will be gone in the summer.....one of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea will lift him
